Muehlheim Open Air Classroom

Riverside
At the river

Muehlheim am Main – the city is proud of its river, as the complete name proves. There is a tradition of freshwater fishery, but the link between town and river has been lost for reasons of flood protection and the focus on shipping – you could chose between sailing to Rotterdam or to the Black Sea from here, provided you manage to access the water.

Muehlheim’s proposed Open Air Classroom will play an important role in the Climate Route as its eastern starting point, but it is an independent investment with a distinct function: Enhancing the river bank at Muehlheim-Dietesheim while telling stories of the river's past, including the fishing heritage and looking to the river's future with the threats that climate change will bring.
