The Chevilly-Larue Green Roof
The green roof is located on a new school in the town of Chevilly-Larue. It is part of a larger eco- school building project that incorporates state of the art innovations in sustainable building, which feature in the Regional Council’s sustainable construction policy for schools.
In September 2011, 800 students will arrive at this new school. It is both a high school and a vocational training centre.
The green roof was completed at the end of 2010. It is quite spectacular with its 1,800 square meters covered with low maintenance vegitation which will retain rain water and help keep the area cooler in the summer. It is part of a complex water management scheme combined with an energy efficiency scheme and renewable energy production on site.
